किस सिम्त देखूँ
सामने है ज़िन्दगी
और तू पीछे कहीं
वो न छोड़े मुझे
कैसी विडम्बना
तू अपनाये नहीं
कशमकश में हूँ
साँसें हैं मेरी या
कहीं गिरवी रखी
देखूँ आसमां तो
दुआ करे दिल मेरा
न टूटे तारा कोई
चुभता हूँ अब भी
आँखों में तेरी अमित
है यह कैसी नमी

You have done it in very few words this time, which IMO, is difficult in Hindi/Urdu poetry.
Excellent take!

I am glad you noticed that… I guess it’s the experience of writing Haikus spilling into my Hindi poetry…

Good influence 🙂 Hindi/Urdu recitals are so full of repetitions and emphasis on subtleties, otherwise…

English translation –
where do I look?
life ahead
you –left behind
life refuses to let go
you don’t let me in
ironies unkind…
mortgaged breaths
challenge existence
-what is really mine?
it’s a vain hope, yet
I wish for no more
falling stars in the sky
you blink – to get rid of me
a particle – unseeing
moisture in my eyes

Wonderful translation, Reena… my sister is a great fan of yours… according to her, your translations are always better than my original pieces…she had the same verdict for this translation too…
